Since 1947, our Cooperative has been constantly working to promote and improve the quality of the Pouilly-sur-Loire wines. Today, it puts its expertise at your service.
Pouilly-sur-Loire Cooperative
In the immediate post-war period, a handful of winegrowers decided to pool their talents and their customers, under the leadership of Dr Sebillotte, in order to better face the challenges of reconstruction. Could they have imagined the chief position their cooperative would hold in the vineyard and the role it would play in its development?
We went from selling a few hundred bottles on the 1948 vintage to over 800,000 on average nowadays; a remarkable growth that has been achieved while accompanying the development of the Pouilly-sur-Loire and Pouilly-Fumé appellations. There is one exception, though, to this joint development: at the turn of the 1960s, several winegrowers from the Coteaux du Giennois joined our Cooperative, contributing their red and rosé wines at first, and their white wines later.
Its expertise in provinding wines of the highest quality and evenness, guaranteed by its team’s dedication and commitment, has long been recognised all over the world.
Retail and Distribution Cooperative
Even if, compared to other cooperatives, our cellars’ production could seem modest, it remains the main structure for the vinification of Pouilly wines in our vineyard, with an annual average production of some 800,000 bottles.
Our cooperative members, all active, represent around 65 estates, cultivating a little over 600 hectares (nearly half of the Pouilly Fumé AOC vineyard) and delivering the equivalent of around 140 hectares.
A very large majority of the wines vinified by our wine merchants are still white wines, which account for nine out of every ten bottles we sell, mainly composed by our Pouilly-Fumé and our white Coteaux du Giennois, issued from our Sauvignon grapes production. Next comes our Pouilly-sur-Loire (5% of our production). With 40,000 bottles sold every year, our cellar is the appellation’s leading supplier.
Our red wines, representatives of the Coteaux du Giennois AOC, account currently for another 5% of our annual production, with 40,000 bottles.
Finally, our prodution of rosés is almost marginal, with around 6,000 bottles produced each vintage.
